1. Uncover the tank
A technician will locate the tank, possibly dig up some of the yard, and remove the access lid.
2. Inspect the tank
The technician will look for cracks or other damage, and may also inspect the baffle filter.
3. Pump the tank
The technician will use a high-powered hose connected to their truck to pump out the contents of the tank, similar to a vacuum. The process removes solid waste, sludge, and scum.
4. Wash the tank
The technician may use a hose to rinse the bottom of the tank to ensure it's clean.
5. Inspect the tank again
The technician will inspect the tank to ensure it's still in good condition.
6. Close and rebury the lid
The techinician will replace the lid and bury it, and may also install a riser to make it easier to access in the future.
